
On April 23, 2015, “The Celtic Language”, the eighth of the series of lectures on “Ancient Languages”, was held by LatinitasSinica in the Academy Hall in the library of Beijing Foreign Studies University. Tommy Murphy, a professor from Ireland, presented the inspirational lecture. Also present at the lecture were Rosemary Kavanagh, Irish ambassadress to China, and Wang Zhanpeng, director of the Irish Studies Center of BFSU, as well as over 50 students and teachers. Professor Tommy Murphy talked about the history of the Celtic, the distribution and use of all the Celtic languages historically, as well as the transmission of the Celtic-Latin literature, Columbanus and Christianity. The influence of Irish language on Irish identity was also discussed.
