Recently, China’s first Irish language corpus, gaGLOBE, has completed the collection and organization of 1 million words of data. It has successfully launched on the "Beijing Foreign Studies University CQPweb Multilingual Corpus Platform" and is now open for use both domestically and internationally. This is currently the only corpus in the non-major languages of the English School that has completed the collection of a full range of texts.

Features of the Corpus
- Large Volume: The corpus covers a wide range of content, including news, government documents, religious texts, literary works, and academic papers.
- Time-efficient: With the exception of some classic texts, it primarily collects contemporary texts from after 2000, effectively reflecting the usage of the Irish language over the past 20 years.
- Application Value: The established corpus can be used to compile vocabulary lists for Irish language teaching syllabuses and to create learning dictionaries, providing rich examples and discourse for daily teaching.
This project was led by our center's teacher Zhang Junhan, along with three master's students from the Irish Studies Center and one undergraduate student from the German Department. The team members are:
- Huang Zixin (Master’s Student)
- Chen Zhaoyan (Master’s Student)
- Lin Guiyu (Master’s Student)
- Chen Chen (Undergraduate Student from the German Department)
This project is a sub-project of the "Global Corpus Cluster Construction and Research" (Project Number: 2022SYLPY004), a major symbolic (nurturing) project for 2022 led by Professor Xu Jiajin at Beijing Foreign Studies University.
